Lake Washington is one of the largest freshwater bodies in the Seattle Metropolitan area. It is also one of the most popular places to walk if you are an outdoors enthusiast. You're pretty close to it if you live in Kirkland. We will be taking a look at the four fun activities that you can do while you are visiting this magnificent place, be it for the day or the weekend.
- Boating and Sailing
For those living in or near Kirkland apartments, Lake Washington is one of the places where you can go boating or sailing. You can rent a boat, or if you are lucky enough to own one, you can take it out on the water to explore Lake Washington's beautiful scenery. One of the marinas is located 10 minutes away from downtown Kirkland.
2. Kayaking and Paddleboarding
If you want to get more in touch with the water, kayaking, and paddle boating could be two of your best options. The waters of Lake Washington are calm and will be excellent for those who are just starting or have some experience. Even better, you can rent kayaks and paddleboards from plenty of vendors in the Kirkland area and around the lakeshore.
3. Fishing
With countless species of fish, including bass, trout, and perch, Lake Washington could be one of your favorite fishing spots if you enjoy it. There are plenty of docks and fishing piers throughout the entire lake. It's not quite a fish population, and Anglers will walk away with quite the catch. Which begs the question: Does Lake Washington have more fish than the Pike's Place fish market? That's anybody's guess.
4. Swimming
Of course, you can swim on Lake Washington as well. Summers in Washington State can get quite warm. What better time than to enjoy a refreshing dip? The water is relatively clean, and it's safe to swim in.
However, it's always a good idea to stay safe whether swimming alone, with friends, or with family. Be sure to adhere to the water safety guidelines that are typically practiced when you are in or around the water.
