Job Description

Key Areas of responsibility

(1) Drafting various commercial agreements and bilateral contracts to suit the business needs like property assignment, lease of property, third party manufacturing agreements, technology transfer agreements and secrecy agreements.

(2) Responsible for protecting the Intellectual property rights of the Company’s products and taking coercive action against infringers and spurious manufacturers of the company’s products by conducting raids and obtaining injunction orders against them.

(3) Handling Sales Tax Appeals and giving opinion on classification of commodities and other issues affecting the company’s business.

(4) Handling and defending consumer cases filed against the Company in the various District and State Consumer Forums.

(5) Handling various issues pertaining to land disputes and other property related matters including investigation of title, property acquisition and disposal, as well as giving legal opinion on properties to be purchased by the Company’s employees under the company-housing scheme.

(6) Defending Prevention of Food Adulteration Act (PFA) and Drugs and Cosmetics Act prosecutions filed against the Nominees/officials of the Company in various courts.

(7) Making representations to the Controller of Legal Metrology and other Government Authorities and defending prosecutions filed against the Company under the packaged Commodities Rules and Orders (PCRO) issued under the Weights and Measures Act.

(8) Liaisoning with Police and other Government Authorities for effective and smooth conduct of business.

(9) Scrutinizing documents and furnishing legal opinions relating to stockiest and distributor appointments, Provident Fund Loans and Company Housing Loans.

(10) Generally handling all kinds of legal work including drafting pleadings, written statements, counter Affidavits, all kinds of petitions relating to cases and coordinating with Advocates in cases filed by/against the company viz money recovery suits, cheque bounding cases, Seeds cases, Labour cases PFA cases, Intellectual Property Rights cases etc.
